Job description

Position Summary

This 4‑H County Extension Educator position is an exempt professional staff role responsible for the delivery of the 4‑H program within the assigned county. The incumbent manages both extension program administration and 4‑H education delivery, working cooperatively with extension faculty and staff and reporting to the County Extension Coordinator, 4‑H Agent, and District Extension Director.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach 4‑H educational learning programs in classroom settings.
• Direct 4‑H participants in preparation for competitive events, including project development and judging.
• Transport or arrange transportation for participants to district and state events.
• Incorporate program evaluation results and feedback into future program planning and implementation.
• Publicize programs and workshops offered within the county and surrounding areas to potential participants.
• Maintain office inventory of supplies and materials necessary to support the 4‑H program.
• Participate in staff conferences and collaborate with colleagues, district staff, and specialists to promote teamwork.
• Utilize current research and emerging issue data to develop and improve program content.
• Conduct in‑school club meetings and deliver curriculum meeting state Georgia Professional Standards guidelines.
• Identify, recruit, train, and supervise 4‑H volunteers, including chaperone training and program leadership.
• Prepare and submit accurate reports to stakeholders (staff, Board of Education, Board of Commissioners, other public officials) via electronic media and face‑to‑face meetings.
• Assist in day‑to‑day operations of the county extension office, including answering phones, processing mail, and greeting visitors.
• Attend 4‑H events as assigned and perform additional duties as directed by Lead 4‑H Agent and County Coordinator.

Physical Demands

Requires physical activity such as handling animals, demonstration materials, and audio‑video equipment; standing and sitting for extended periods; exposure to varying weather during outdoor activities; travel within the state and potentially nationally; driving responsibilities; occasional extended work hours, nights, and weekends.

Additional Information

Salary: $40,000, commensurate with experience. Benefits eligible. Full‑time position with a typical work schedule of Monday‑Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Lunch 12:00 – 1:00 PM). The position requires driving, is a position of trust with financial responsibilities, and involves direct interaction with children under 18. Security access is required, and the role requires a pre‑employment background check.
