Job summary

  • Assist clientele with access to Extension resources and services including publications, online content, other educational materials and sample submissions for diagnostic services.
  • Assist with other duties as needed.

Position Summary

The County Extension Program Assistant performs duties necessary to assist the county extension agents in the day‑to‑day conduct of programs. Duties include answering phone calls and supporting 4‑H and agricultural assignments.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in facilitating the county 4‑H Program.
  • Assist 4‑H’ers in preparation for 4‑H competitive events including project achievement and judging teams.
  • Transport or arrange transportation of 4‑H’ers to district and state level events and, if assigned, provide leadership for youth while attending these events.
  • Incorporate the results of program evaluations and feedback into planning future programs and techniques used in implementing programs.
  • Help implement educational Ag programs.
  • Maintain office hours to assist clientele and conduct day‑to‑day operations.
  • Assist clientele with access to Extension resources and services including printed publications, online content, other educational materials and sample submissions for diagnostic services (e.g., soil and water tests, feed and animal waste analysis, radon testing).
  • Assist with other duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to use independent judgment and discretion with confidential information.
  • Work with limited supervision.
Physical Demands
  • Conduct programs (pack and move boxes, handle equipment, load and unload vehicles).
  • Travel to events.
  • Driving as needed to perform job duties.
Compensation and Work Schedule

Hourly: $16.587 per hour; 19 hours per week, part‑time schedule.
