Job summary

Blue Origin is building a new space thruster manufacturing line in Huntsville, AL. The Manufacturing Engineer will develop work instructions for receiving inspection through final test, manage cost, quality, and schedule, and approve manufacturing drawings.

Responsibilities include process controls, repair/rework support, equipment design and integration, capacity analysis, root-cause analysis, and supplier collaboration to ensure on-time delivery. U.S.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of manufacturing engineering experience.
  • BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment supporting evolving design iterations.
  • Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with lean systems and methodologies.
  • Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, work instructions, and test procedures.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Develop manufacturing work instructions for receiving inspection, fabrication, assembly, test, integration, and refurbishment.
  • Closely manage cost, quality, build sequence, and schedule of hardware throughout manufacturing.
  • Perform engineering drawing review and provide final approval for manufacturing.
  • Develop process control measures and evaluate through statistical analysis.
  • Define and support repair and rework activities.
  • Design, procure, install, and integrate custom manufacturing equipment.
  • Interface with external suppliers to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
  • Perform capacity analysis for equipment and processes.
  • Conduct root cause analyses for non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
  • Design proper material handling and packaging to protect hardware.
