Job summary

Blue Origin in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to develop, implement, and optimize thruster hardware fabrication across receiving inspection, fabrication, assembly, test, integration and refurbishment. You will manage cost, quality, build sequence, and schedules, review engineering drawings for manufacturing, and design process controls with data-driven methods.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of direct manufacturing and manufacturing engineering experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment supporting evolving design iterations.
• Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing.
• Familiarity with lean systems and methodologies.
• Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, work instructions, and test procedures.
• Excellent communication at all levels; strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills.
• Hands-on experience in hardware manufacturing (castings, forgings, additively manufactured components, welding, machining, NDT, tight tolerance assembly, leak testing, FAT/ITO).
• Record of completing manufactur­ing projects including design for manufacturability, cycle time reduction, and mistake proofing.
• Ability to earn trust and contribute to an inclusive culture.
• U.S. citizenship or eligible status for legal employment in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Develop manufacturing work instructions for receiving inspection, fabrication, assembly, test, integration, and refurbishment.
• Manage cost, quality, build sequence, and schedule of hardware throughout manufacturing.
• Perform engineering drawing review and provide final approval for manufacturing.
• Develop process control measures and evaluate through statistical analysis.
• Define and support repair and rework activities.
• Design, procure, install, and integrate custom manufacturing equipment.
• Interface with external suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
• Perform capacity analyses for manufacturing equipment and processes.
• Conduct root cause analyses for non-conformances and deploy corrective actions.
• Design material handling and packaging to protect hardware during build and test.
• Maintain hardware configuration and pedigree through build and test.
