Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to lead activities across machining, assembly, and process development in our Huntsville facility. You will create work instructions, review drawings, and implement process controls to ensure quality, cost, and on-time delivery of space hardware.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of direct manufacturing and manufacturing engineering experience.
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited university.
• Experience in a machine shop environment with CNC 5-axis and lathes.
• Familiarity with CNC programming - NX preferred.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment supporting constantly evolving design iterations.
• Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing.
• Familiarity with lean systems and methodologies.
• Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and test procedures.
• Ability to communicate clearly and appropriately at all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Develop manufacturing work instructions for kitting, machining, deburring, inspecting, marking, and packaging.
• Support fabrication of machined parts for valves and integration.
• Manage cost, quality, build sequence, and schedule of hardware.
• Perform engineering drawing reviews and approvals for manufacturing.
• Develop process control measures and evaluate via statistical analysis.
• Define and support repair and rework activities.
• Interface with suppliers to ensure on-time, on-budget manufacturing.
• Perform capacity analysis for equipment and processes.
• Conduct root cause analyses of non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
• Design material handling and packaging to protect hardware.
