Job summary

The Salvation Army ARC San Francisco Main Store in San Francisco, CA is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to lead daily retail operations, deliver exceptional customer service, and drive store performance. This full-time role requires at least 2 years of retail management or supervisory experience and a focus on following ARC standards.

You will work closely with the Store Manager to optimize inventory, scheduling, training, and compliance, while mentoring Beneficiaries in the ARC program.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of 2 years of Retail Management/Supervisory experience (thrift preferred).
• Basic understanding of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Must hold a valid Driver's license, pass MVR, and have access to a vehicle.
• Must pass background check (Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry).
• Ability to communicate effectively with management, staff, customers and donors.

Responsibilities

• Takes an active role with Store Manager in day-to-day operations (opening/closing, POS, inventory, donations).
• Manage day-to-day store operations in the Store Manager's absence (personnel and cash handling).
• Monitor KPIs to drive store sales and profitability as per budgets/goals.
• Schedule staff to ensure coverage; oversee payroll records and time/attendance.
• Assist in hiring, training, and coaching store team to ensure process proficiency.
• Communicate personnel issues and performance results with Store Manager; coordinate with HR.
• Ensure high levels of customer and donor satisfaction and community relations.
• Support Back Room Processing to meet daily goals.
