Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Western Territory is seeking an Assistant Manager for our South San Francisco retail location. This full-time role supports the Store Manager in daily operations, inventory control, and customer service excellence to meet sales and program goals.

You will supervise staff in a mentoring environment, handle POS operations, and ensure compliance with ARC policies and safety standards while driving profitability and donor engagement.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years previous Retail Management/Supervisory experience (thrift preferred).
• Basic understanding of office applications, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Must hold a valid Driver's license, able to pass MVR report, provide proof of insurance, access to a vehicle.
• Must pass background check, including Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry.
• Ability to communicate effectively with management, store employees, customers and donors.

Responsibilities

• Take active role with Store Manager in day-to-day operations, including opening/closing, POS, inventory, and donations.
• Assist in monitoring KPIs to drive store sales and profitability.
• Supervise and mentor Beneficiaries when Work Therapy Assignments are in place.
• Ensure Back Room Processing is efficient and aligned with daily goals.
• Coordinate staffing, payroll records, and time attendance, and support hiring/training.
