Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking an Assistant Store Manager for the SF Main Thrift Store to lead daily store operations and coaching of staff. The role supports the Store Manager in delivering excellent customer and donor experiences and maintaining standards across merchandise, cash handling, and safety.

Qualified candidates will have a High School Diploma, 2+ years retail management, POS experience, and a valid driver's license with insurance.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 2 years Retail Management/Supervisory experience.
Experience operating POS/Cash Register and scheduling/supervising staff.
Valid Driver’s license with proof of insurance.
Must pass background check (Criminal History and Sex Offender Registry).
Excellent communication with management, staff, customers, and donors.

Responsibilities

Takes active role with Store Manager in day-to-day operations.
Coaches and develops store employees.
Ensures customer/donor needs are met and service is efficient.
Coordinates daily morning and shift-change team meetings in Store Manager's absence.
Supervises staff to ensure compliance with directives.
Trains new personnel on store policies and procedures.
Communicates personnel issues with District Sales Manager; may issue disciplinary warnings.
Handles paperwork and time/attendance compliance.
Ensures ARC merchandising standards and inventory levels.
Loss prevention and cash handling responsibilities.
