Job summary

American Cruise Lines is seeking Third Mates for our fleet, operating on inland and coastal waterways. This role requires a U.S. Coast Guard Master’s license with Near Coastal endorsement, plus TWIC and piloting experience.

Expect long days, six weeks on and three weeks off, and living aboard with meals provided. You will lead safety/watch duties and support deck, engine, and hospitality teams. Join a professional crew dedicated to exceptional guest service and ongoing simulator-based training

Qualifications

• U.S. Coast Guard Master’s license with Near Coastal endorsement (minimum 100 GRT).
• TWIC credential required.
• Piloting and boat handling experience on coastal and river waterways: minimum 6 months, 1 year preferred.
• Self-disciplined work habits and personal grooming.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Pre-employment drug test and ongoing random testing.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and security of passengers, crew, and vessel.
• Safe launch operations in compliance with standards.
• Conduct daily inspections of all vessel spaces.
• Stand helm, security, and gangway watches in Deckhand rotation.
• Execute vessel cleaning, sanitation, maintenance, and logistics.
• Stand piloting watches under instruction of Captain or Mate.
• Assist Engine Room Attendant with machinery and system maintenance.
• Support hotel and culinary teams in delivering five-star guest service.
• Maintain logs, reports, and administrative records.
• Maintain exemplary professional grooming and uniform appearance
