Job summary

American Cruise Lines seeks Third Mates to join a growing fleet operating along inland and coastal waterways. You will oversee safe vessel and launch operations, stand piloting watches, and collaborate with deckhands and engineers to maintain high service standards.

The role emphasizes hands-on, team-oriented leadership aboard 35–50 ft launches. You will live and work aboard during cruise seasons, with a 6 weeks on / 3 weeks off schedule, and participate in advanced simulator-based training to

Qualifications

• Licensed mariner with basic maritime experience and keen interest in coastal/river waterways.
• Ability to stand helm and piloting watches under instruction.
• Pre-employment drug test and ongoing random testing.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety and security of passengers, crew, and vessel.
• Safe launch operations in compliance with standards.
• Conduct daily inspections of vessel spaces.
• Stand helm, security, and gangway watches.
• Perform vessel cleaning, sanitation, maintenance, and logistics.
• Stand piloting watches under Captain or Mate.
• Assist Engine Room Attendant with machinery maintenance.
• Support hotel and culinary teams to deliver five-star guest service.
• Maintain logs, reports, and administrative records.
• Maintain grooming and uniform appearance.
