Thermal Generation Project Manager — Lead Energy Projects

Job summary

Stantec seeks a Project Manager in Energy & Resources to lead multi-discipline teams on thermal generation projects, delivering Owner’s Engineer or Detailed Engineering/Design services for simple cycle, combined cycle, and repowering across North America.

You will drive client satisfaction, manage risk, promote PM best practices, assist in business development, and mentor junior staff while traveling to US/Canadian sites as required.

Qualifications

• Engineering design and construction experience with power plant projects.
• Expertise in project management including team leadership, resource management, scheduling, project controls, reporting and document controls.
• Strong leader and team player with interpersonal skills and experience managing a team.
• Experience leading projects using EPC, DBB, and ECI delivery models.
• Knowledge of multi-discipline engineering services for energy projects.
• Experience in business development, proposals, and budget development.
• Demonstrated leadership competencies.
• Strong organizational skills across multiple offices and geographies.
• Problem-solving skills and ability to travel to US/Canada sites.
• Excellent communication and proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools.
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass drug/alcohol screen.

Responsibilities

• Provide project management expertise to energy projects.
• Manage energy projects/programs and ensure alignment with PM frameworks.
• Contribute to best-practice methods and project governance.
• Coordinate with leadership, discipline leads, and clients.
• Ensure consistent project execution across offices and geographies.
• Mentor staff and support client relationship management.
• Monitor resources, schedule, budget, and quality of deliverables.
• Identify gaps and implement lessons learned and improvements.
• Support leadership in recruitment and development of PMs and project leaders.
• Lead or support proposals and mentorship activities.
• Achieve utilization targets as agreed.
