Texas Field EHS Engineer - Build Safety at Scale

Job summary

Base is seeking an EH&S Engineer to support field operations teams in Texas. As an EHS Engineer, you will perform hazard assessments, incident investigations, address employee safety concerns, and strategize with site leaders to prevent injuries while ensuring environmental compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.

You will develop safety programs, inspect facilities and equipment, manage waste, and lead risk reduction initiatives within cost and schedule constraints.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with an emphasis in occupational health and safety and/or environmental engineering.
• 3+ years of experience in the design, development and operational oversight of environmental, health and safety disciplines.
• Demonstrated ability to research and apply the best industrial and working practices to provide effective services.
• Knowledge of process safety management methods, pressure systems, and chemical delivery systems.
• Strong knowledge and experience in interpreting, applying and documenting federal, state and local safety and environmental regulations.
• Experience with emergency response communication and incident management in incidents involving hazardous and non-hazardous material releases to air, soil, and water.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain compliance with all applicable regulations and/or guidelines established by Texas Health and Safety Codes, OSHA, NFPA, NIOSH.
• Collaborate with department leadership to complete job hazard assessments and implement health and safety policies and procedures.
• Execute industrial hygiene studies to analyze manufacturing byproducts against associated human health thresholds.
• Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment in order to identify and correct potential hazards, and implement machine guarding when needed.
• Complete and maintain documented safety observations from regular hazard identification audits.
• Investigate industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine root causes, corrective actions and preventive measures.
• Develop safety solutions to resolve EHS hazards within cost and schedule constraints using a hierarchy of controls to include elimination, substitution, engineering controls, work practice controls, training, and PPE.
• Responsible for hazardous and non-hazardous waste management.
