Job summary

Job description

The Testing Center Lab Assistant is a part‑time position that reports directly to the Director of Testing Services. The role involves administration of pencil/paper and online/web‑based course exams for both online and traditional classes, scheduling and supervising testing programs, proctor services, and certification testing. This position requires at least 6 hours of work on Saturdays, with an option to work up to 19 hours per week.

Responsibilities
  • Proctor NWACC course exams, placement tests, and accommodated assessments.
  • Maintain a clean, organized workspace.
  • Continuously monitor testers and enforce testing security procedures for pencil/paper and computer/web‑based tests.
  • Obtain and maintain certifications for community proctoring services such as CLEP, Meazure Learning, PearsonVue, Kryterion, and PROV.
  • Work Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • Provide high‑quality customer service via phone, email, and in‑person interactions regarding Testing Services.
  • Maintain reliable attendance and build collaborative relationships.
  • Liaise between the Testing Center and faculty, assisting students as needed.
  • Assist with the reception desk: checking in students, verifying identification, scheduling appointments, and completing paperwork for community proctoring services.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental and college goals.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • At least one year of experience in a specialized or related field applicable to work performed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least two years of customer service experience.
  • At least one year of experience working at an academic testing center.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Self‑starter who takes accountability for performance with minimal supervision.
  • Strong time‑management, multi‑tasking, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of Student Information Systems, word processing, spreadsheets, email, and other computer programs.
  • Ability to build relationships with individuals and teams across the institution and campus.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
  • Frequent: manipulate items with fingers (keyboarding), sitting, standing, walking.
  • Constant: hearing, repetitive motion, talking.
  • Requires close visual acuity for tasks such as preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading, and visual inspection at close distances.
  • The work environment is a professional office setting with moderate noise, lighting, and temperature control, occasionally requiring visits to other areas. The environment may vary from moderate to louder noise levels and light physical activity.
Compensation

Rate of pay: $15.00 per hour.
