Job description

About Halter: At Halter, we’re on a mission to enable farmers and graziers to run the most productive and sustainable operations. Our customers are using Halter to break free from the time‑intensive constraints of conventional practices. Imagine watching 500 cattle stand up and walk calmly towards their next break? No quad bikes, no dogs, no fences. Just a group of cattle walking at their own pace. People say it looks like magic. Our customers are revolutionizing grazing with Halter, transforming an industry and improving lives. People join Halter to do meaningful work and to solve challenging problems within a talented team and a high‑performance culture.

About The Role

As a Territory Manager at Halter, you will play a critical role in driving new business growth and ensuring customer success within your designated territory. You will be responsible for executing sales strategies, building strong customer relationships, and meeting ambitious growth targets, all while acting as Halter’s on‑the‑ground representative. This role requires a proactive and hands‑on approach, with a focus on both expansion and long‑term customer satisfaction. Working closely with cross‑functional teams—including Product, Support, and Customer Onboarding—you’ll share field insights to keep Halter’s technology aligned with the needs of U.S. farmers.

What Your Day Could Look Like
  • Prospecting New Business: Drive up driveways, attend local cattle auctions, meet with local livestock associations, and build your new business pipeline through outbound lead generation.
  • In‑Field Sales: Meet potential customers on horseback, side‑by‑side, or at their ranch, presenting the value of Halter while offering coffee or coffee stops during calving season.
  • Expanding Existing Opportunities: Grow relationships by identifying upsell or cross‑sell opportunities, especially where ranchers haven’t fully adopted all available collaring solutions.
  • Hitting Sales Targets: Manage your pipeline effectively, prioritize leads, and maintain focus on month‑to‑month growth.
  • Customer Account Management: Keep post‑sale relationships strong, provide support, and work with onboarding to ensure customers derive maximum value from Halter.
  • Territory Ownership: Own the entire region, ensuring no customer is neglected and building relationships with local, state, and federal agricultural agencies.
  • Customer Onboarding: Guide customers through a seamless onboarding and deployment experience, transitioning smoothly from sales to implementation teams.
  • Field Learnings & Feedback: Act as the voice of the territory, gathering customer feedback and advocating for needs within the company.
  • Collaborating with Support Teams: Resolve issues quickly, escalating problems as needed to keep customers fully supported.
  • Attending Industry Events: Generate leads and deepen customer relationships at industry and company events.
  • Contributing to the U.S. Sales Strategy: Provide input to refine the sales process for the U.S. market, driving greater efficiencies and effectiveness.
You’ll be great if you exhibit
  • Driven Attitude & Communication Skills: Results‑driven, motivated, adaptable, and skilled at communicating with customers and internal teams.
  • Ranching / Cattle Experience: Deep understanding of ranching or cattle operations and the unique challenges of the industry.
  • Sales & Customer Success Expertise: History of creating new business, negotiating value‑based sales, and building long‑term customer relationships.
  • Territory Management Experience: Experience managing a large territory with balanced focus on sales and customer success, ideally within agriculture or technology.
  • Problem‑Solving & Collaboration Ability: Resourceful and quick‑thinking, working well with cross‑functional teams to address challenges and drive solutions.
  • Willingness to Travel: Frequent travel within your territory to engage with customers and prospects.
Bonus things you could bring along to the role
  • Familiarity with precision agriculture or virtual fencing technologies.
  • Background in customer‑facing roles within agriculture technology.
  • Background in selling software (SaaS) solutions in a B2B environment.
Our Benefits
  • Annual self‑development budget of USD$750 to support personal growth.
  • Best‑in‑class health insurance for employees and their families.
  • 16 weeks of paid parental leave for primary caregivers and 8 weeks for secondary caregivers, plus additional parental benefits.
  • Wellness leave and unlimited paid annual leave to recharge.
  • 401(k) plan with 100% match on the first 3% contributed and 50% match on the next 2%.
  • Inclusive and attractive remuneration package, including salary, benefits, and an employee stock ownership plan.
