Job summary

The Nebraska Department of Transportation is hiring winter temporary maintenance workers to support winter operations and snow removal across Ansley, Arthur, North Platte and surrounding communities. This short-term role helps keep roads safe and the traveling public secure throughout the season.

Pay starts at $20.39 per hour; CDL holders begin at $21.95. The job is temporary through March 31, 2027, with hours depending on weather.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver's license.
• Senior position requires Class A or B CDL with air brakes and tanker endorsements within 60 days of employment.
• Preferred: CDL holder with experience operating heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in winter operations.
• Perform snow removal.
• Operate heavy equipment for road maintenance.
• Trim trees along roadways.
• Respond to highway emergencies.
• Move, load, and unload equipment and materials.
• Spread and tamp surfacing materials.
• Other duties as assigned.
