The State of Nebraska is hiring Winter Temporary Highway Maintenance Workers to support Lincoln and surrounding areas. Positions cover Auburn, Beatrice, Greenwood, and nearby towns. Pay starts at $20.390 per hour; those with a current CDL start at $21.953.

This seasonal role focuses on winter operations, snow removal, and roadside safety. Must be 18+, hold a valid driver's license; for Senior, CDL with air brakes and tanker endorsements are due within 60 days.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license (Highway Maintenance Worker).
• Highway Maintenance Worker/Senior requires Class A or B CDL with air brakes and tanker endorsements within 60 days.
• Preferred: valid Class A or B CDL and experience operating heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Help with Winter Operations and snow removal.
• Operate heavy equipment for road maintenance.
• Perform tree trimming and respond to highway emergencies.
• Safely move, drag, lift, load, and unload equipment and materials from the roadway.
• Spread and tamp surfacing materials and perform other assigned duties.
