Job summary

State of Nebraska's Transportation - Agency 27 in Alliance and surrounding areas is hiring winter temporary Highway Maintenance Workers. Join a team keeping highways safe during snow and ice, with opportunities to operate heavy equipment and perform snow removal.

Positions are temporary through March 31, 2027, with hours varying by weather. Starting pay ranges from $20.39 to $21.953 per hour; CDL holders start at the higher rate.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license.
• Senior: CDL Class A or B with air brakes and tanker endorsements required within 60 days of employment.
• Preferred Qualifications: Valid CDL; experience operating heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Help with Winter Operations and snow removal.
• Perform heavy equipment operation for road maintenance.
• Perform tree trimming as needed.
• Respond to highway emergencies.
• Move and handle equipment, materials, and supplies from the roadway within safety limits.
• Spread and tamp surfacing materials.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
