Job summary

The Johnson Museum of Art is seeking a part-time, Temporary Museum Security Associate to provide security for the Museum’s collections, visitors, staff, and facilities through routine daily patrols, incident reporting, and the maintenance of security systems. This is a 3-month position with the possibility of extension, requiring up to 19 hours per week on-site at Ithaca (Main Campus).

The role may include evenings, holidays, and on-call shifts; visa sponsorship is not offered.

Qualifications

• Provide security for the Museum and back-up operational support.
• Patrol galleries and facilities, report incidents, and maintain security systems.

The successful candidate should expect to work up to 19 hours per week.* The rate of pay for this position is $24.00 - $24.30/hour depending on experience.* This is an on-site position at the Johnson Museum of Art. The job does not support a hybrid or remote schedule.* This position does not support visa sponsorship. The Johnson Museum’s permanent collection numbers 40,000 works, spanning six millennia and encompassing art from most world cultures. The Museum enhances and supports faculty teaching across Cornell’s schools and departments by hosting approximately 350 class sessions per academic year in the Museum’s galleries and classrooms. **The Position:**In this position you will support the safety and security of the Museum’s collections, visitors, staff, and facilities through routine daily patrols, incident reporting, and the maintenance of security systems.You will also provide backup visitor services and reception support, assists with classroom and event logistics, and respond to building or facility issues as needed.In this position you will be required to work a flexible schedule that may include weekdays, evenings, holidays, and on-call availability, along with the physical ability to patrol galleries and facilities extensively using staircases repeatedly.
