Job summary

The Johnson Museum of Art is seeking a part-time, Temporary Museum Security Associate to provide security for the Museum’s collections, visitors, staff, and facilities through routine daily patrols, incident reporting, and the maintenance of security systems. This is a 3-month position with the possibility of extension, requiring up to 19 hours per week on-site at Ithaca (Main Campus).

The role may include evenings, holidays, and on-call shifts; visa sponsorship is not offered.

Qualifications

• Provide security for the Museum and back-up operational support.
• Patrol galleries and facilities, report incidents, and maintain security systems.
• Provide backup visitor services and reception support, assist with classroom and event logistics.
• Flexible schedule including weekdays, evenings, holidays, and on-call availability; physically able to patrol extensively.

Responsibilities

• Safeguard the Museum’s collections, visitors, staff, and facilities through routine patrols and incident reporting.
• Maintain security systems and respond to building or facility issues as needed.
• Assist with classroom and event logistics and provide back-up visitor services and reception support.
