Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta is hiring a Teen Counselor for the McCleskey East Cobb YMCA branch. You will plan and supervise teen programs, lead activities, and ensure safety and compliance with YMCA guidelines.

The role emphasizes building positive relationships with teens and parents, delivering prepared lessons, and supporting branch operations. Must meet safety, training, and background requirements to contribute to our community-focused mission.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years prior experience working with school-age youth or teens in a group setting
• Evidence of current successful completion of biennial training in CPR/First Aid/BLS, or complete within 30 days of hire
• Completion Youth and Teen Safety Training prior to first day of scheduled work
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills
• Experience with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Must pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen and motor vehicle record

Responsibilities

• Carry out daily program tasks related directly to the position's scope and responsibility
• Provide leadership and supervision to the participants within the program with guidance from the Youth Development Director
• Instructs lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared lesson plans accordingly
• Stay updated on current issues regarding programs
• Promote, monitor, evaluate and ensure that all programs run smoothly with a high level of service to participants
• Coordinate and ensure all program components are implemented and met to meet compliance of Goizueta Grant
• Builds relationships with teen participants and parents/guardians; encourage parent involvement and identify potential volunteers
• Assist as needed in all aspects of the YMCA and its community
• Maintain and report incident/accident paperwork
• Adhere to YMCA safety policies and program non-negotiables
• Assist with program checks that ensure safety protocols are followed
