Job summary

The YMCA of Metro Atlanta is seeking a Teen Counselor at the Alpharetta branch. You will plan, organize and lead teen clubs and monthly events under the Youth Development Director, ensuring youth safety and program quality.

Requirements include 18+, a high school diploma, 2–4 years with youth, and completion of safety trainings. This grant-funded role emphasizes community impact and YMCA mission alignment.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must have a High School Degree.
  • 2-4 years prior experience working with school-age youth or teens in a group setting.
  • Current CPR/First Aid/BLS training or complete within 30 days of hire.
  • Youth and Teen Safety Training prior to first day of scheduled work.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out daily program tasks related directly to the position's scope and responsibility.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to participants with guidance from Youth Development Director.
  • Instruct lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines with prepared lesson plans.
  • Stay updated on current issues regarding programs.
  • Promote, monitor, evaluate and ensure programs run smoothly with high service to participants.
  • Coordinate and ensure program components meet Goizueta Grant compliance.
  • Build authentic relationships with teen participants and parents/guardians; help connect with the YMCA.
  • Encourage parent involvement and identify potential volunteers.
  • Assist as needed in all aspects of the YMCA and its community.
  • Maintain and report incident/accident paperwork.
