Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta is seeking a Teen Counselor at the Covington Family YMCA to lead youth programs, supervise participants, and deliver engaging activities in line with YMCA guidelines.

You will implement lesson plans, ensure safety, coordinate clubs, and report incidents with dedication to member service and program quality. Required are 18+, high school diploma, CPR/First Aid/BLS, background checks, and prior youth experience.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must have a High School Diploma.
• 2–4 years prior experience working with school-age youth or teens in a group setting.
• Evidence of current CPR/First Aid/BLS training or completion within 30 days of hire.
• Youth and Teen Safety Training prior to first day.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Must pass pre-employment background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record.
• Legally eligible to work in the US without current or future sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Carry out daily program tasks related to the position's scope.
• Provide leadership and supervision to participants.
• Instruct lessons following YMCA guidelines with prepared plans.
• Promote, monitor and ensure smooth programs with high service quality.
• Coordinate program components to meet Goizueta Grant compliance.
• Build relationships with teens and parents; encourage volunteer involvement.
• Assist in all aspects of the YMCA and its community.
• Maintain and report incident/accident paperwork.
• Adhere to safety policies and non-negotiables.
