Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta is seeking a Teen Counselor at Northeast Cobb YMCA to organize and lead teen programs, ensure safety, and promote healthy living. This grant-funded role emphasizes youth development, program planning, and strong communication with teens and parents.

You will implement lesson plans, supervise participants, maintain incident reporting, and collaborate with the Youth Development Director to provide meaningful experiences for youth.

Qualifications

• 18+ years of age
• High School Diploma required
• 2–4 years of experience with school-age youth or teens in a group setting
• CPR/First Aid/BLS training completed or to be completed within 30 days of hire
• Youth and Teen Safety Training prior to first day of scheduled work
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Able to pass background check, drug screen, and driving record
• Legal eligibility to work in the US without sponsorship

Responsibilities

• Carry out daily program tasks related to teen programs
• Provide leadership and supervision to participants
• Lead lessons per YMCA guidelines with prepared plans
• Promote and ensure quality program delivery
• Coordinate program components to meet Goizueta Grant compliance
• Build relationships with teens and parents/guardians and encourage volunteer involvement
• Maintain incident/accident paperwork and reporting
• Adhere to YMCA safety policies and staff guidelines
