Job summary

YMCA of Metro Atlanta is hiring a Teen Counselor at the Northeast Cobb YMCA to plan, organize, and lead weekly teen clubs and related activities. You will ensure participant safety and deliver age-appropriate lessons aligned with YMCA guidelines, reporting to the Youth Development Director.

You will build strong relationships with teens and parents, coordinate events, and help implement safety protocols while supporting Goizueta Grant compliance and program quality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required with 2–4 years experience working with school-age youth or teens in group settings.
• Completion of CPR/First Aid/BLS biennial training or within 30 days of hire.
• Youth and Teen Safety Training prior to first day of scheduled work.

Responsibilities

• Carry out daily program tasks related to the position’s scope.
• Provide leadership and supervision to participants with guidance from the Youth Development Director.
• Instruct lessons per YMCA guidelines with prepared lesson plans.
• Promote, monitor and ensure all programs run smoothly with high service quality.
• Coordinate program components to meet Goizueta Grant compliance.
• Build authentic relationships with teens and parents/guardians; encourage volunteer involvement.
• Maintain incident/accident paperwork and report as required.
• Adhere to YMCA safety protocols and Youth/Teen Safety Policy.
