Job summary

Everforth Apex is seeking a Senior Technical Writer to transform complex IT content into clear, user-facing documentation for agency audiences. This on-site role in Washington, DC requires eligibility for a TS/SCI with CI Poly and a strong command of technical grammar and standards.

You will standardize templates, edit installation and user guides, maintain a document library, and collaborate with engineers and project teams to ensure accuracy and consistency across all publications.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree required.
  • 8 years of relevant technical writing experience.
  • IAT Level II certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Create and review ITD technical products for grammar, punctuation, and syntax, as well as for logic, clarity, and consistency.
  • Prepare, review, revise, and maintain technical documents including software and systems/network engineering, system/network operations, testing, and user documentation.
  • Write and edit technical documentation for all project hardware and software requirements to include installation, configuration, how-to documentation, and end-user guides.
  • Standardize documentation by creating and implementing templates for all document types.
  • Ensure that style and format conform to agency publication standards and that language presentation is consistent with prescribed style guides and specialized vocabulary of subject matter fields.
  • Amend draft tables, tone boxes, and graphics to ensure the content supports and is consistent with the accompanying text.
  • Ensure proper classification markings in accordance with provided guidance.
  • Work with authors to revise products for narrative organization, and negotiate further revisions as needed.
  • Maintain a document library to enable ease of document storage, retrieval, updates, and review.
  • Participate in special projects as required.

Required Qualifications

Education: BA/BS

Experience: 8 years of relevant experience.

Technical Skills
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices involved in technical research, writing, and editing.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use various word-processing and desktop publishing software applications.
  • Knowledge of the organization’s products and services, customer requirements, purpose and structure of required documentation, and end user’s level of understanding.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Desired Certifications: An IAT Level II certification is preferred.
