Job summary

SMS group is seeking a Technical Sales Engineer to bridge engineering expertise and customer requirements across the sales cycle in Pittsburgh. You will interpret technical drawings, prepare quotations, and collaborate with service and sales teams while traveling about 10% to meet clients.

The role requires a technical degree, strong communication, and SAP/ERP experience. You will work in an environment that values innovation and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Two-year technical degree combined with two years of business experience or a bachelor’s degree in engineering with two years of applicable experience.
• Bi-lingual is a plus (German, Italian or Spanish)
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to write reports and correspond with customers
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
• CAD preferred but not required
• Experience with SAP/ERP system is preferred

Responsibilities

• Serve as the point of contact for Technical Service Division orders.
• Process customer requests for quotations in accordance with pre-determined company metrics and procedures.
• Creating RFQ’s and sourcing parts through approved vendors.
• Track customer requests for quotations, communicate with the customer to ensure accuracy, and prepare and send final quotations.
• Provide strong support for end customer and SMS Sales Department.
• Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
• Business travel approximately 10%.
