Job summary

CNA Insurance in California seeks an underwriter to manage underwriting risk from submission through policy issuance for both renewal and new business within limited authority. You will partner with underwriters to provide the information needed for prudent decisions.

Responsibilities include handling endorsements, renewing books within authority, documenting files, applying pricing strategies, completing quotes, and acting as the primary contact for producers and customers to identify

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Property and Casualty underwriting including insurance products, policy processing procedures and documentation.
• Three years of related work experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Underwriting analysis and documentation to determine acceptability of risk for renewal and new business within authority.
• Handle endorsements within delegated authority and refer outside authority with recommended actions.
• Triage renewal applications/specs and outline changes for accounts outside authority.
• Coordinate with branch and CNA to resolve issues (billing, risk control, underwriting guidance).
• Document files ensuring completeness, compliance and quality (proposals, endorsements, cancellations).
• Execute pricing strategies using pricing tools in compliance with underwriting strategies and document rationale.
• Complete quote proposals and negotiate with external partners within authority.
• Serve as first-line contact to producers/customers for account matters and identify up-sell opportunities.
• Assist in marketing products/services through external partners and field visits.
• Be a subject-matter expert on systems/workflows and train others.
