Job summary

CNA Insurance in Los Angeles seeks an experienced underwriter to assess risk and support the underwriting lifecycle from submission to policy issuance for renewal and new business within delegated authority.

Partner with underwriters, document pricing rationale, and develop quotes while collaborating across CNA to resolve issues and drive account profitability. A bachelor’s degree and at least three years of related experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Typically a minimum of three years of related work experience.
• Knowledge of Property and Casualty underwriting including insurance products, policy processing procedures and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite risk for the lifecycle from submission through policy issuance for renewal and new business within limited authority.
• Process endorsements within delegated authority and refer outside authority with recommended action.
• Manage renewal book within authority and triage renewal applications with changes or points of attention.
• Serve as a liaison within the branch or across CNA to resolve issues (billing and collections, risk control, underwriting guidance).
• Document assigned files ensuring completeness, compliance and quality.
• Execute advanced pricing strategy and document pricing rationale.
• Complete quote proposals and negotiate with external partners.
• Act as first-line contact to producers/customers on account matters and identify upsell opportunities.
• Assist in marketing products and services through external partners and field visits.
• Mentor teammates and provide training as a resource for underwriters.
• Keep current on line of business strategy, state/territory issues, regulations and trends.
