Job summary
Free Market Health in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer, Team Lead to design, build, and run production software powering the specialty pharmacy ecosystem.
You will guide a small team, own end-to-end delivery, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product and domain experts to ship robust features using AI-assisted development.
This is a hands-on leadership role focused on quality, reliability, and patient-centered impact.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with production systems.
- Experience as a team lead or tech lead guiding ambiguous work.
- Strong Python backend skills and React frontend experience.
- Experience with microservices, REST APIs, databases, and cloud platforms.
- Hands-on use of AI coding tools in real delivery work.
- Excellent communication and proactive problem-solving.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and operate full-stack features and backend services in production.
- Turn initiatives into clearly sequenced work for the team.
- Lead technical design and maintain code quality.
- Mentor engineers through pairing, reviews, and guidance.
- Identify risks early and propose options.
- Collaborate with Product and domain experts to build the right solution.
- Use AI-assisted development as a core practice.
- Participate in triage and coordinate during incidents.
- Interview candidates and onboard new engineers.
