Job summary

Free Market Health, based in Pittsburgh’s Strip District, is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer (Python) to own backend services, data pipelines, and agentic development across our healthcare platform.

You will write substantial code, collaborate with product and operations, and become the go-to expert for your domain. The role emphasizes building reliable systems, improving data quality, and guiding AI-enabled workflows with tools like Claude Code and Cursor.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Deep backend experience in Python.
• Experience with system integrations and data pipelines.
• Experience with REST APIs and relational databases such as SQL Server.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate backend services and APIs in Python.
• Become domain expert for referral workflows and integrations.
• Partner with Product and operations to shape solutions.
• Review designs and code across teams.
• Build and improve AI-enabled agents, skills, rules, and context.
• Introduce agentic development practices to the team.
• Improve reliability and data quality in owned systems.
