Job summary

Free Market Health in Pittsburgh is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead one or more software delivery teams and grow engineers while delivering impact on our healthcare platform.

You’ll coach teams, own performance cycles, recruit and onboard engineers, and partner with Product to balance features, reliability, and sustainable pace. You’ll still write code when needed and champion AI-assisted development.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software engineering including 2+ years in leadership.
• Experience leading Agile delivery and roadmaps.
• Hands-on with modern web and cloud stack.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools.
• Excellent communication with engineers, product partners, and leaders.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and grow software teams.
• Partner with Product on planning, scope, and priorities.
• Own delivery, risk management, and priority alignment.
• Contribute hands-on to projects when needed to stay close to the platform.
• Manage on-call rotations and maintain quality through reviews.
