Job summary

Pro Action of Steuben and Yates, Inc. is seeking a full-time Teaching Assistant for Head Start in Corning, NY. You will assist lead teachers, observe children's development, and maintain anecdotal records using TeachingStrategies GOLD.

The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent, 3-5 years related experience (CDA preferred), strong organizational and computer skills, and reliable transportation for local travel.

Responsibilities

• Make ongoing observations of children's development and maintain anecdotal records.
• Assist lead teacher in utilizing TeachingStrategies GOLD for child outcomes assessment at three checkpoints.
• Assist teacher to complete assessments of individual children.
• Carry out daily tasks related to preparation of the classroom per planned activities and learning objectives.

• Strong organizational and basic math skills.

• Ability to interact with customers from a variety of backgrounds and with different levels of management. Capability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written and oral form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent with 3-5 years related work experience. The Teaching Assistant position prefers a Child Development Associate (CDA).

The ideal candidate must have a driver's license, meeting agency standards and consistent, reliable transportation that will allow regular travel in and around the service area.
