Job summary

West Virginia K-12 Jobs is seeking an Innovative Teacher Leader, a classroom teacher who wants a leadership role without becoming an administrator. The position balances classroom excellence with school-wide guidance, mentoring new teachers, and aligning county curriculum initiatives with district goals.

Beyond teaching, you will coach peers, provide instructional support, pilot new educational strategies, and participate in 10 specialized trainings.

Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years of successful classroom teaching.
Proven experience serving on a school leadership team or equivalent.
Valid State Teaching Certification.
Current Certified Mentor status, or commitment to earn mentor certification upon hire.
Attends all 10 specialized innovative teacher trainings; after-hours work may be required.

Responsibilities

Serve actively on the school leadership team to shape academic vision, culture, and goals.
Act as a liaison between administration and staff to champion innovative practices.
Provide direction for county curriculum initiatives to align with district goals.
Attend all 10 mandated training sessions and professional development workshops.
Translate district curriculum changes into actionable classroom strategies for peers.
Serve as a certified mentor and guide new educators.
Offer instructional coaching, co-teaching, and peer observations to support peers.
Model advanced instructional strategies including technology integration and data-driven differentiation.
