Job summary

Key People is seeking a hands-on Tax Manager focused on ASC 740 income tax provision and coordination of outsourced tax functions. You will act as the internal quarterback across RSM, Avalara, and internal stakeholders to own the provision and drive efficiency.

This role sits in a fast-paced environment with private equity backing, emphasizing tax operations, planning, and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• ASC 740 income tax provision experience.
• Experience in federal and state tax compliance.
• Familiarity with outsourced tax environments (Big 4 / regional firms).
• Working knowledge of Avalara or similar sales tax systems.

Responsibilities

• Prepare annual ASC 740 tax provision: current & deferred calculations, journal entries, reconciliations, supporting schedules.
• Perform provision-to-return true-ups and variance analysis.
• Prepare quarterly estimated tax calculations.
• Serve as primary liaison with external tax advisors.
• Review federal and state income tax returns and workpapers.
• Manage timelines, deliverables, and open items; support audits.
• Oversee outsourced sales/use tax compliance processes.
• Review filings, exception reports, and reconciliations.
• Partner cross-functionally on tax exposure and compliance issues.
• Manage multi-jurisdictional tax compliance across federal, state, and local levels.
• Review financial statements to ensure accurate tax reporting.
• Identify tax savings opportunities and planning strategies.
• Support senior leadership with tax implications of business decisions.
• Develop and maintain systems to track regulatory changes.
• Assist with cash flow forecasting related to tax obligations.
• Optimize tax workflows to improve efficiency and turnaround time.
• Coordinate across internal teams and third-party providers.
• Ensure tax processes run smoothly and deadlines are met.
