Job summary

Applied Optoelectronics, Inc. (AOI) is seeking a Talent Acquisition Specialist to support our recruiting activities at our Sugar Land campus. You will review applications, perform initial screenings, and coordinate interviews with hiring managers and teams.

This on-site role requires a successful track record in high-volume recruiting, strong communication, and organization. AOI offers relocation support, generous PTO, and 401(k) matching for eligible employees.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; HR, business, liberal arts, or related field.
• 1+ year in recruiting, HR coordination, staffing, customer service, or similar environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication; professional with candidates by phone, email, video, and in person.
• Ability to conduct structured candidate screenings and evaluate against job requirements.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills; handle multiple priorities.
• Attention to detail and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Review resumes and applications to identify candidates meeting minimum qualifications.
• Conduct initial phone or virtual screenings with prospective candidates.
• Assess experience, qualifications, work authorization, availability, compensation expectations, shift preferences, and interest.
• Provide candidates with the overview of position, work environment, schedule, and process.
• Coordinate and schedule interviews across multiple departments and interviewers.
• Maintain timely communication with candidates and document results in the ATS.
• Assist with candidate communications, interview invitations, and status updates.
• Support high-volume recruiting activities and candidate pipeline management.
• Assist with job postings and candidate sourcing as needed.
