Job summary

HID Global is seeking a Systems Operations Engineer in Salt Lake City to support the reliability, performance, and security of core systems and infrastructure. You will learn, collaborate, and implement operational practices while assisting in day-to-day maintenance and issue resolution.

You’ll work with Linux/Windows servers, cloud platforms, and containerization, contributing to automation and documentation, while growing under guidance from senior engineers in a SAFe/Agile environment.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in systems administration or related role.
• Experience with Linux and/or Windows server administrations.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and scripting (PowerShell/Python/Bash).
• Basic knowledge of networking concepts and monitoring/observability tools.
• Familiarity with IaC tools is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in deployment, configuration, and maintenance of server, storage, and cloud infrastructure.
• Monitor system performance and escalate issues to ensure availability and SLA adherence.
• Support automation by maintaining provisioning, configuration, and monitoring scripts.
• Participate in root-cause analysis and incident response under guidance.
• Update documentation, runbooks, and operational standards.
• Collaborate with Security, DevOps, Network, and Applications teams for stability.
• Contribute to capacity planning, patches, upgrades, and maintenance tasks.
• Participate in on-call rotation and escalation procedures.
• Assist with evaluations of new tools and processes.
