Northrop Grumman is seeking a Systems Engineering Manager 2 to lead the Modeling & Simulation (ModSim) team in Rolling Meadows, IL. The role blends people leadership (10–15 engineers) with hands-on technical work across Mission Survivability Systems projects.

You will drive staffing, project schedules, and technical reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR) while advancing MBSE and Agile methods. U.S. citizenship and Secret clearance are required.

Qualifications

JOB OVERVIEW

We are looking for a Systems Engineering Manager 2 to lead the Modeling & Simulation (ModSim) team based in Rolling Meadows, IL. The role balances functional oversight of a Systems Engineering group of 10–15 engineers (~20% of the time) with active technical program work (~80% of the time) on our Mission Survivability Systems projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee a team of engineers working on multiple initiatives, including follow‑on contracts, new business growth opportunities, internal R&D, and capital projects.
• Guide the team in adherence to SEIT processes, overseeing cost, schedule, and technical quality for SEIT execution with functional reviews for major milestones (e.g., SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR) and proposals.
• Lead staffing and workload forecasting, employee inclusion, engagement, mentoring, career development, training, and performance review processes.
• Collaborate with talent acquisition to meet staffing commitments.
• Support initiatives such as Model‑Based System Engineering (MBSE), Product Line Architecture (PLA), and Agile implementation.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor of Science in an engineering or technical discipline with a minimum of 8 years’ experience, or Master of Science with a minimum of 6 years’ experience.
• Proven leadership skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• High proficiency in technical problem solving (decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation, monitoring).
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret clearance prior to start date.
• Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, and familiarity with C/C++ development.
• Experience with MBSE tools (e.g., Cameo), MS Project, MS Office, Simulink, and Agile techniques.
• Preferred: Advanced degree, active Secret or higher clearance, SAP clearance, experience with electronic warfare or IR systems, experience in all phases of the engineering process, and excellent communication skills.

BENEFITS

Competitive salary range: $153,800.00 – $230,800.00. Eligible for overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonus. Benefits include health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plan, paid holidays, PTO, and potential long‑term incentives for senior positions.
