Position Overview

At Northrop Grumman, the Mission and Payload Programs organization in Space Systems focuses on innovative engineering to provide advanced systems for the warfighter. This role is a Systems Engineer (Level 2) or Principal Systems Engineer (Level 3) in the Systems Engineering Integration & Test (SEIT) organization within the Space Superiority Division. The position is located in Rolling Meadows, IL and is part of the Eastern Region SEIT Engineering organization.

Responsibilities

• Systems Design Tasking: Creating and refining Model Based Systems Engineering products, generating and updating specifications in DOORS, capability assessments, functional algorithm development, risk assessment, technical performance measurement reporting, presenting analysis to secure end‑customer buy‑in, interface development and documentation.
• Modeling & Simulation Tasking: Software development of physics‑based models, analysis and trades of product line architectures, functional algorithm development, authoring technical documentation, presenting technical analysis, creating and refining MBSSE products.
• Integration & Test Tasking: Experience with sensors, antennas, transmitters/receivers, optics, real‑time signal processing, MATLAB/Python, Robot Framework or other test automation frameworks, DOORS and ClearCase/ClearQuest, creation of integration & test plans, system verification and validation, Agile development, support of Systems Integration Laboratory testing, willingness to travel.

Basic Qualifications

• Systems Engineer: BS + 2 years of experience OR MS + 0 years of experience.
• Principal Systems Engineer: BS + 5 years of experience OR MS + 3 years of experience OR PhD + 0 years of experience.
• BS and/or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical degree.
• Background in signal processing and algorithm development.
• Proficient in MATLAB or Python object‑oriented programming.
• U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance at time of application.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong organization and coordination skills working with cross‑functional teams.
• Knowledge of space domain concepts such as orbital mechanics and remote sensing.
• Strong RF domain background including link budgets, waveform modulation schemes, transceiver technologies, antennas.
• Experience with signal generators and spectral analyzers.
• Active TS/SCI with adjudicated polygraph is preferred.
