Job Overview
Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking a manager for its Systems Engineering Integration and Test (SEIT) organization at its Rolling Meadows, IL location.
Relocation assistance may be available. Travel is required up to 10% of the time. A Secret clearance is required and must be maintained.
The role will manage a team of 10–15 SEIT engineers with approximately 20% functional oversight and 80% technical program work on a restricted program space.
Responsibilities
- Provide functional oversight for a team of SEIT engineers working on multiple initiatives including follow‑on contracts, new business growth opportunities, internal R&D, and capital projects.
- Lead support and adherence to standard SEIT processes and oversee cost, schedule, and technical quality for program execution, including functional reviews for major milestone events (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, etc.) and proposals.
- Conduct staffing, workload forecasting, employee inclusion, engagement, mentoring, career development, and training.
- Execute performance review processes and drive functional management processes.
- Recruit new talent to meet staffing commitments.
- Support initiatives such as Model‑Based System Engineering (MBSE), Product Line Architecture (PLA), and Agile implementation.
- Lead engineering efforts for system architecture development, requirements development, hardware/software design, verification and validation activities, and production program engineering support.
- Ensure program adheres to sound engineering processes in development, production, test, and sustainment, and meets quality standards and company policy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in engineering/technical discipline with a minimum of 8 years’ experience, or Master of Science with a minimum of 6 years’ experience.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- High technical problem‑solving proficiency, including decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation, and monitoring.
- Background in cost/schedule management (especially Earned Value Management).
- U.S. citizenship; must obtain and maintain Secret clearance and any additional customer‑specified clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a relevant technical or management specialty.
- Active Secret / Top Secret Clearance.
- 5+ years of related engineering experience at a defense contractor during EMD and/or LRIP phases.
- Management experience leading Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test teams.
- Experience in development and EVM of cost accounts and schedules.
- Experience working in a systems engineering, integration, and test environment on complex projects encompassing hardware, software, and firmware development.
- Experience with electronic warfare, EO/IR, laser, or related defense systems.
- Experience with all aspects of the engineering process from proposal/requirements analysis through verification testing and fielding.
- Proficiency in MS Project, MS Office, MATLAB, Simulink, Cameo, MBSE, and Agile techniques.
Salary
Primary Level Salary Range: $153,800 to $230,800 per year.
