Job summary

The Josef Group Inc. seeks Junior and Mid-level Systems Engineers to support funded Task Orders by contributing to planning, design, development, and implementation of mission-critical systems.

Ideal candidates work directly with customers, developers, and stakeholders across the Agile lifecycle, from requirements gathering to delivery, while communicating effectively with technical and non-technical audiences and assisting development teams in delivering high-quality solutions.

Qualifications

• Experience working directly with customers and stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and document functional requirements.
• Ability to translate requirements into actionable Jira epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Experience performing functional and/or manual testing of software applications.
• Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain and present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Working knowledge of software development concepts and processes.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, mission-focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Requirements Gathering & Analysis: Elicit, analyze, and document functional requirements from government customers and stakeholders.
• User Story Development: Translate requirements into Jira epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Backlog & Sprint Management: Groom the sprint backlog, ensure work is scoped and prioritized.
• Developer Support: Liaise between stakeholders and developers to answer questions and remove blockers.
• Functional Testing: Perform initial functional/manual testing before QA and customer reviews.
• Customer Demonstrations: Present features to government customers and collect feedback.
• UX Collaboration: Work with UX designers to incorporate usability into requirements and user stories.
• Agile Development: Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, demos, and retrospectives.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Maintain communication with systems engineers, software developers, UX teams, QA, and government stakeholders.
