Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Systems Engineer in Burnsville, MN, to lead cross‑disciplinary development of large cabinet‑based electro‑mechanical systems. You will work closely with customers to define requirements, produce clear specifications, and guide designs from concept through production launch, while collaborating with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers.

Qualifications

• Degree in mechanical, electrical, systems engineering, or software-related engineering.
• 6–12+ years of experience with hardware sets including server/racking equipment.
• Strong knowledge of ruggedized equipment, displays, consoles and GUI-based systems.
• Solid understanding of overall system architecture and multi-disciplinary integration.
• Experience developing requirements and solutions with direct customer collaboration.
• Experience working with cross-functional technical teams across mechanical, electrical and software.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with customers to develop, clarify, and document system requirements.
• Translate customer requirements into detailed specs for electro‑mechanical products.
• Lead design and requirements phases and support design reviews and production transition.
• Develop system evaluations and trade studies, recommending optimizations.
• Coordinate hardware, software and attached system changes, including testing.
• Provide day‑to‑day support in hardware and software development activities.
• Work with mechanical, electrical and software teams to develop detailed prototypes.
• Maintain design standards to ensure reliability and compliance.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Software-related engineering (BSEE, Systems, or BSME)
