Job summary

Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber seeks a Survey Intern for Summer 2027 in Farmington Hills, MI. You will assist with evaluating water and wastewater projects, analyze data, and help prepare technical reports while collaborating with engineers and survey staff across offices.

The role requires enrollment in a Survey Engineering, Survey Technology, or Civil Engineering program, and familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or MicroStation. Valid driver's license and availability for travel are expected.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Survey Engineering, Survey Technology, or Civil Engineering program.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or MicroStation in land development preferred.
• Ability to learn basic design concepts and perform technical calculations.

What You’ll Do

• Assist in engineering evaluations and design of water and wastewater systems.
• Analyze data and help prepare technical reports.
• Collaborate with engineers and survey professionals across multiple offices.
• Participate in site visits and client meetings to observe project conditions firsthand.

What We’re Looking For

• Currently enrolled in a Survey Engineering, Survey Technology, or Civil Engineering program.
• AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or Micro Station experience, preferably in the land development industry.
• Ability to learn basic design concepts and technical calculations.
• GPS knowledge is a plus.
• Possess valid driver's license.
• Available for occasional travel, long hours, and occasional weekends.
• Ability to communicate effectively, follow direction, and work independently.
• Experience utilizing Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
