Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design in Nashville, TN is seeking a Crew Chief to lead advanced field surveys, mentor junior staff, and ensure precise data collection across ROW, utility, 3D scanning, and boundary projects. You will collaborate with site supervisors and clients, prepare thorough field notes, and manage safety and equipment.

The role requires 3+ years in field surveying, proficiency with data collectors and total stations, and willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of field survey experience.
• Proficient with data collectors, data collection techniques, robotic instruments, conventional field note-keeping, total stations and leveling.
• Experience with or ability to learn the use of 3D scanners.
• Experience with mapping, boundary and topographic surveys.
• Experience with construction stakeout required.
• Self-starter with minimal supervision.
• Able to work in inclement weather.
• Willingness to travel.
• Valid driver''s license with clean driving record (MVR will be checked).
• Ability to read, write and understand English for job-related communications.

Responsibilities

• Plan and perform advanced field surveys within project scope and budget.
• Interact with site supervisors and client field representatives.
• Prepare accurate field notes and reports daily.
• Perform in-field calculations for stakeout and surveys.
• Review safety checklists; instruct crew on hazards and PPE.
• Maintain and operate surveying instruments and equipment.
• Operate survey vehicle per company policy.
• Mentor and train junior field staff.
• Projects include ROW, utility, 3D scanning, control surveys, layout, topo, aerial ground control, and ALTA/boundary surveys.
