Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design in Hamilton, OH is seeking an energetic Crew Chief to lead field surveys using advanced data collection and surveying instruments.

You will plan, perform and supervise surveys, mentor junior staff, coordinate with project teams, and ensure safety and quality on site. This role requires travel, hands-on leadership, and the ability to work in inclement weather. A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of field survey experience and at least 2+ year of experience as a Crew Chief, or equivalent knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Plan and perform advanced field surveys within the defined project scope and budget, using the most efficient methods, and in accordance with applicable standards of practice.
• Interact with project site supervisors and client field representatives.
• Prepare accurate, detailed field notes and reports of daily activity in a timely manner.
• Perform in-field calculations for construction stakeout and various land surveys with minimal assistance from office support team.
• Prepare or receive from the PM, the Health, and Safety Checklists. Review and instruct other crew personnel on all safety hazards, PPE, etc. associated with the work being performed.
• Maintain, transport, and operate the instruments and equipment associated with surveying land and preparing the job site for a survey.
• Operate and maintain the survey vehicle in accordance with the Company vehicle manual.
• Mentor and train junior field staff to facilitate career advancement.
