Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design in Nashville, TN is seeking a CreW Chief to lead field surveying efforts within our Survey/Geospatial team. You'll plan advanced surveys, mentor junior staff, and coordinate with project supervisors to deliver accurate data on time.

Qualifications

Colliers Engineering & Design is looking for an energetic, adaptable, and solutions-driven Crew Chief to join our growing team in Nashville, TN! Responsibilities
  • Plan and perform advanced field surveys within the defined project scope and budget, using the most efficient methods, and in accordance with applicable standards of practice.
  • Interact with project site supervisors and client field representatives.
  • Prepare accurate, detailed field notes and reports of daily activity in a timely manner.
  • Perform in-field calculations for construction stakeout and various land surveys with minimal assistance from office support team.
  • Prepare or receive from the PM, the Health, and Safety Checklists. Review and instruct other crew personnel on all safety hazards, PPE, etc. associated with the work being performed.
  • Maintain, transport, and operate the instruments and equipment associated with surveying land and preparing the job site for a survey.
  • Operate and maintain the survey vehicle in accordance with the Company vehicle manual.
  • Mentor and train junior field staff to facilitate career advancement.
  • Projects include: ROW surveys, utility surveys, 3D scanning, Horizontal and vertical control surveys, construction layout, residential and commercial properties, Topographic surveys, aerial ground control surveys, Boundary and ALTA surveys.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of field survey experience.
  • Candidates must be proficient with data collectors, data collection techniques, robotic instruments, conventional field note-keeping, total stations and leveling.
  • Experience with or ability to learn the use of 3D scanners.
  • Experience with mapping, boundary and topographic surveys.
  • Experience with construction stakeout required.
  • Candidate must be a self-starter, with little need for supervision once provided with a work assignment.
  • Must be able to work in inclement weather.
  • Willingness to travel required.
  • A valid driver's license and clean driving record required. MVR will be checked and monitored.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Requires a pre-employment drug screen and will require ongoing participation in the employer's random drug and alcohol testing program.
