Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Surgical Technician to join the perioperative team in Tampa, FL as a first, second, or assisting technician under RN supervision. Sign-on and relocation bonuses are available.

Required are an Associate's Degree or Certificate of Completion in Surgical Technology plus BLS within 30 days. The role involves sterile technique, instrument prep, communication with OR staff, and patient care coordination in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or certificate in Surgical Technology.
• BLS certification required within 30 days.
• Ability to scrub basic surgical procedures and assist the circulator.

Responsibilities

• Applies the principles of asepsis to maintain a sterile environment.
• Organizes supplies and equipment for efficient department operation.
• Facilitates communication with nursing and other departments; liaises between units.
• Collects data on assigned patients as directed by the RN and unit standards.
• Performs or assists with documentation in patient records and orders.
• Schedules appointments, tests, and exams and maintains patient charts.
• Prepares patients for transport and assists with movement.
• Maintains logs of admissions, discharges, and transfers.
• Participates in quality improvement and infection control committees as needed.
• Assists with inventory and supply chain management; collaborates with surgeons and OR team.
