Job summary

The Surgical Technician at Carle Health plays a key role on the perioperative team, serving as first, second, or assisting technician under RN supervision. The job emphasizes asepsis, patient safety, and collaboration with surgeons and OR staff.

The ideal candidate will have an Associate’s Degree or Surgical Technology certificate, BLS, and the ability to scrub procedures independently. Sign-on and relocation bonuses are available.

Qualifications

• Independently scrubs basic surgical procedures.
• Demonstrates knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, microbiology, and pharmacology.
• Applies sterile technique and perioperative teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Maintains sterile environment and asepsis during procedures.
• Organizes supplies and equipment for efficient operation.
• Facilitates communication between unit, nursing staff and other departments.
• Documents patient data and orders accurately in records.
• Prepares patients for transport and assists with activities of daily living.
• Maintains accuracy of patient admission/discharge/transfer logs.
