Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a Surgical Technologist at our Richmond, VA campus. This full-time role supports the operating room team across all ages, with a starting pay of $25.00 per hour and an up to $5 per hour shift differential for evenings, nights, and weekends.

Eligible candidates may receive a $7,500 hiring incentive and up to $40,000 in financial support to pursue nursing education. Current CST certification is required unless exempt under PA Act 80.

Qualifications

• Current CST certification is required unless exempt under PA Act 80.
• Graduate from Specialty Training Program.

Responsibilities

• Assists surgeon with procedures for patients of all ages.
• Assists in coordination of treatments with other disciplines.
• Provides basic patient assistance.
• Connects patients to clinical equipment as needed.
• Prepares for surgery including scrubbing, gowning, gloving and instrument setup.
• Participates in operating room briefings and universal protocol.
• Verifies surgical site with team before incision.
• Maintains supplies and instrument counts.
• Prepares and verifies specimens collected during procedures.
• Adheres to universal precautions and safety protocols.
• Participates in on-call rotations for the OR.
• Acts as a preceptor for students assigned to the surgical unit.
