Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the Operating Room team. The role focuses on instrument selection, preparation, sterility, and scrubbing on general procedures, with emphasis on teamwork and patient safety.

The position involves 36 hours per week, routine participation in staff meetings, and collaboration with surgeons to ensure efficient room turnover and high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a graduate of an accredited/approved surgical technology program.
• ARC/STSA or NBSTSA certification or equivalent (Massachusetts Surgical Technologist Law) as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Performs scrub duties according to procedure with a high level of skill and efficiency.
• Maintains accurate counts of sponges, needles and instruments before, during and after procedures.
• Assists in turnover of rooms and preps OR for patients.
• Demonstrates knowledge of national patient safety goals and aseptic technique.
• Acts as preceptor for staff on all aspects of the OR and promotes good working relationships.
• Communicates effectively with surgeons and the surgical team.
