Job summary

Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Needham, Inc. is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the perioperative team in a busy operating room environment. You will prepare the OR, assist the surgeon, maintain sterile technique and ensure proper handling of specimens and medications.

The role requires basic life support, technical training in surgical technology, and a willingness to work a 10-hour shift with on-call rotation. Excellent teamwork and communication are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Vocational or technical training in Surgical Technology or equivalent program.
• Certified Surgical Technologist credential required or obtained within 12 months of hire.
• Basic Life Support certification is required.
• 0–1 year of related work experience is preferred.
• Ability to work cooperatively as part of a close-knit perioperative team.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the OR with instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment per policy.
• Assists the surgeon and perioperative team during procedures.
• Maintains strict sterile technique and aseptic practices at all times.
• Handles specimens and medications on the sterile field with care.
• Performs counts (sponges, sharps, instruments) and supports instrument processing.
